A TRUE STORY

Where to start for Jacqui’s Big Day??

Well, for a long time Jacqui’s Big Day nearly wasn’t. Originally planned for 1999, and then progressively postponed from there, lots of people finally refused to believe that JBD was going to happen at all!!

But we knew that it would, sometime, and sure enough, on July 1 2000 JBD got underway with a lovely flight with the BA people from Sydney to London. Now, although word of this flight has started to filter through the travel world, we really don’t think you should believe all the tales you hear about the Cabin Nazis. They really were just following orders (just whose we weren’t in fact sure), and the tackle by the steward on the 70 year old woman would gain him selection in most national rugby teams around the world.

But good things can’t last forever and eventually we arrived in London. Met by Pam and Rob, we were soon safely tucked up in leafy Caterham and dreaming of real airlines and proper service.

Now, in case you’re getting confused about days and big days, we are still two weeks from JBD, and if we rabbit on like this much longer about a 100 pages will pass before we even get to JBD. So any time soon you are going to see whole days just disappear as we take a few shortcuts and get down to the real business of JBD.

Sooooo…..

A days solid rest in jolly old Londinium to see off the jet lag and then we were off to the land of Cuckoo clocks.

The drive to the Chunnel was uneventful and in no time at all we were on the car shuttle and on our way to france. The shuttle trip was quick and uneventful, exactly how you want it travelling umpteen metres under the English Channel.

Arriving in France in seemingly no time at all, we headed off to sunny Switzerland. Now, for those of you who haven’t driven from Calais to Switzerland, it is rather a long way, and no amount of pretty scenery and quaint villages makes the trip any quicker. So we’ll leave this page here and assume that 8 long hours have passed blissfully by.
